5/14/2007 9:33:13 PM I received my HLT5687S the beginning of April over a month ago. It worked perfect right out of the box, with just a channel scan. The contrast ratio is very Conservative. The dark dark blacks are absent of all light. A all white screen makes your eyes water it's that bright, even in the "standard light setting" In the PC computer mode I turned down the brightness and contrast to 40% to surf the INTERNET. It makes a great PC monitor! Using the HDMI input from my blue ray 1080P Samsung disk player, the picture is perfect, even better then looking out the window! The set weights 62 lbs VS 98 lbs for a 50" Samsung Plasma. It draws 230 watts at max brightness,VS 550 watts for the Samsung 50" Plasma. It does have a fan, but you can not hear it two feet away. The new style cabinet is great with a side connection panel to make it easy to get to. I just put a plant on the side to cover up the connector panel and cables. The remote appearers the same as other Samsung's, very easy to work. The ads all say that it has Picture in Picture, but I do not think it has. Nothing in the instruction book about PIP, or on the remote. If you find this function please let me know. Over the air TV 1080i channels look great too! The sound comes from a narrow slot the whole length of the bottom front of the cabinet. The sound is good enough without having to add a expensive sound system. |
